The 2017 WNY Home Wine Competition Results—VIEW HERE.
The competition is open to all amateur winemakers, 21 years and older, who are residents of New York State or Southern Ontario.
Entries for the wine competition can be dropped off or mailed to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County, between July 16th and July 23th, 2018. Submissions must be dropped off during our office hours, which are 8:00am-4:30pm (On July 17th we will extend our drop off time until 7pm to accommodate those that cannot make it in by 4:30pm). Entries must include an entry form and a $5 entry fee. Enter 3 bottles and 4th entry is free.
Private judging will take place on Wednesday, July 25th, 2018. Awards and prizes will be given on Saturday, August 4th at 12:00 p.m. on the small stage at the fairgrounds. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded for wines in the following categories:
Vinifera — White Hybrid – White Native – White Tree Fruit
Vinifera – Red Hybrid – Red Native – Red Berry Fruit
Vinifera – Rose Hybrid – Rose Native – Rose Specialty
Wine Label Contest
A wine label contest will also be added to the WNY Home Wine Competition. This competition is open to any amateur label designer, who is a resident of New York State or Southern Ontario. Entries for the wine label contest can be dropped off or mailed to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County between July 16th-23th, 2018. Entries must be submitted on time to be eligible for “The People’s Choice” award. Entries must include an entry form per label entered. Awards and prizes will be given on Saturday, Aug. 4th at 12:00 p.m. in the small tent at the Niagara County Fair. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded for labels in the following categories:
|Colors – bright, exciting, eye catching||Scenic – landscape, picture, representation, sketch, etc.|
|Animals or birds||People’s Choice|
|Flowers, plants, trees, grapes, etc.||Bottles that are etched, silk screened, sand blasted or hand painted|
|Humor – funny, whimsical, amusing, comical|
