Niagara County Fair Postponed Until 2021 Due to COVID-19

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County’s Board of Directors held a special meeting on Friday, May 29th, resulting in the decision to postpone the Niagara County Fair until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CCE realizes that this decision will cause great disappointment within the community but deemed this decision necessary in order to ensure the health and safety of our area residents and aid in the containment of COVID-19. CCE is heartbroken for the small businesses, 4-H youth, competitors and exhibitors impacted by the decision. This was not an easy decision to make, and many efforts were explored to identify ways to preserve the Niagara County Fair experience.

While the Fair won’t take place, CCE staff are planning to virtually host a showcase of 4-H animals who would also be available for purchase in an online auction. Information on the virtual auction will be available at a later date at cceniagaracounty.org.

The Niagara County Fair in Lockport, NY is the largest youth fair in the state and has something for everyone. Approximately 35,000 people flock to the 5-day fair to enjoy local events, live music, shows, contests, food, rides and more. If you’re looking for family friendly local events, go ahead and mark Niagara County Fair from August 5th-August 9th, 2020 down on your calendar for family fun and excitement!

4-H is also a big part of the Niagara County Fair. The 4-H members in Niagara County have worked all year to prepare their fair entries in the areas of animal science, plant science, social science, nutritional science, mechanical science and natural sciences. Home environment, consumer economics, leadership development, volunteer development, and much, much more are included as areas of 4-H topics. These young people are working hard to earn Excellent (blue), Good (red) or Worthy (white) ribbons and to earn the honor of representing Niagara County at the NY State Fair.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization. Net proceeds from the fair support CCE-Niagara County programming that benefits children and families of Niagara County.

Location:  4487 Lake Avenue (Route 78) Lockport NY 14094
