Raising Healthy Livestock

  • Saturday, March 2, 2019, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Raising livestock can be a rewarding enterprise. There are many things to consider, including what to feed, how to keep them healthy and how to handle them. Cornell Cooperative Extension NWNY Dairy, Livestock & Field Crops Team is holding a workshop for livestock farmers to help address these topics Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The workshop will be at the CCE Training Center, 4487 Lake Avenue, Lockport. Speakers and their topics include Dan Underhill, Agri-King, focusing on forage and grain testing and feeding quality feed; Allen Fournier, DVM, Maplewood Veterinary Associates, P.C., covering keeping livestock healthy – illness prevention and vaccinations basics; and Nancy Glazier, Small Farms & Livestock Specialist, NWNY Team, concentrating on livestock safe handling systems and quality assurance programs. Topics will encompass ruminant livestock. Participant input is sought for future workshops.

Cost of the workshop is only $5, thanks to the generous support of W.H. Rhinehart, Inc. Pre-registration is required by February 26 to guarantee your lunch. Contact Nancy Glazier at 585.315.7746 or nig3@cornell.edu. Please relay any special needs when registering.
