CCE Niagara Veggie Van
The CCE Veggie Van Farm Truck is funded by the Highmark BlueFund Western New York grant
Cornell Cooperative Extension, Niagara County was very excited to announce the arrival of the new CCE Niagara Veggie Van in winter 2023. The Veggie Van is a mobile farmers market that provides residents of Niagara County with locally grown fruits, vegetables and more. All the food is sourced from farms in Western New York encouraging residents to “eat local!"
Large scale grants have been received from the Highmark Blue Fund, NYS Dept of Health and NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets. With this funding CCE Niagara will be able to provide 10,000+ food bags a year to Niagara County residents for the next 5 years. Based on that number, the projected distribution for 2024 is over 100K pounds of produce. All of the money spent on produce and goods goes directly back to Niagara and Western New York Farmers.
Jen Regan, Program Manager for the Veggie Van, said “We are so proud to be able to provide locally grown produce, dairy and meats to our communities. Thanks to the new truck and funding, we can now grow our efforts to improve food security and equitable food access in Niagara County. “To find out more about the Veggie Van program, please email Jen Regan at jcr284@cornell.edu or visit our website, www.cceniagaracounty.org.
