EquiStar

Located on Fuller Road in Burt, EquiStar’s mission is to enrich the lives of people with disabilities through equine related activities. The 24-year-old horseback riding facility helps disabled riders reach milestones in their physical development and communication skills. Under the guidance of CCE-Niagara, EquiStar will continue to provide equestrian-related activities that offer therapeutic benefits for children and adults with varying conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Trisomy 21, anxiety, and more.

In the spring of 2018, when EquiStar, Inc. closed due to financial difficulties, CCE was asked to help revive this much-needed program. With the goal of making EquiStar thrive once again, CCE assumed management in late May and restarted the programming in June. With the help of dedicated volunteers, to date, we have offered over four sessions with over 100 classes to 45 riders.

EquiStar offers 6-week therapeutic riding sessions that consist of one 45-minute class per week. The cost to ride is $180 per session, and the next available rider session begins on April 1st. The 2nd rider session will begin on May 20th.

If you’re interested in enrolling in classes, please contact Chris Wright at 433-8839 ext. 232 or email her at ckw38@cornell.edu for more information!
