EquiStar

Located on Fuller Road in Burt, EquiStar’s mission is to enrich the lives of people with disabilities through equine related activities. The 24-year-old horseback riding facility helps disabled riders reach milestones in their physical development and communication skills. Under the guidance of CCE-Niagara, EquiStar will continue to provide equestrian-related activities that offer therapeutic benefits for children and adults with varying conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Trisomy 21, anxiety, and more.

In June, CCE-Niagara assumed management of EquiStar’s operation and reinstituted the therapeutic riding program. A new session began on June 4th, with 33 riders currently enrolled and back in the saddle.

EquiStar offers 6-week therapeutic riding sessions that consist of one 45-minute class per week. The cost to ride is $150 per session, and the next available session begins July 23rd and ends September 1st.

Plans are underway to launch a fundraising drive early this summer to help meet EquiStar’s programmatic needs. In the meantime, CCE-Niagara welcomes all levels of contributions. Interested businesses and individuals may contact Marc Ducharme, PR & Marketing Coordinator, at 433-8839 or by emailing him at mdd37@cornell.edu. ((More))
